Learning and Playing in a Loving, Child-centered Atmosphere.

Play is the foundation of all learning in the Preschool. The Pink House at Trinity is the home of our Prekindergarten and Kindergarten programs—and it is glorious! Children learn and play in a loving, child-centered atmosphere which prepares them for First Grade.

We believe that the development of social and emotional skills is the cornerstone of a successful school experience. That’s why we use the Responsive Classroom approach to help children build social, emotional, and academic readiness skills in a strong school community where they feel safe, challenged, and joyful.

Teaching occurs in large groups, small groups, and one-on-one situations accommodating a broad range of individual differences. Children are guided to grow in independence, kindness, patience, cooperation, self-control, and responsibility as they interact with others and their environment.

The joyful experiences of children’s play are fundamental to the Trinity Preschool experience. We provide opportunities for a balance of structured and unstructured, child-centered and teacher-directed, and indoor and outdoor play. Play is viewed as crucial to a child's development of self, social relationships, self-control, and persistence. 

Recognizing the importance of creating a bridge between the home and school environments for the Preschool child, we establish relationships with parents based on mutual trust, respect, and understanding. Parents are viewed as active participants in their child’s educational journey, and the school/family relationship is only strengthened by the many opportunities for parent engagement in both Preschool and school-wide events and initiatives.

We want our students to grow up to be decent and kind upstanders who make a positive difference in the world around them. Through everyday play and learning, preschool children are well-prepared for the excitement and challenges they will encounter when they begin First Grade.
