Mission and Values
Trinity Episcopal School's Mission is to build confident, resilient upstanders on a foundation of academic excellence, moral responsibility, and faith who are prepared to make a positive difference in the world.
Our History

Trinity Episcopal School has its beginnings in Miss Edith Aiken's The Little School for Little Children, founded in 1917. Miss Aiken believed in the goodness, humanity, the godliness of people and was a true living embodiment of these ideals.
In 1958 she contacted Canon Turner at Trinity Episcopal Church to suggest transferring her Little School to their campus. Two years later, in 1960, Trinity Episcopal School opened its doors on Jackson Avenue. Today, Trinity is a co-educational school serving around 500 students from the Nursery through Eighth Grade. Trinity Episcopal School continues in the tradition of both Miss Aiken and Trinity Episcopal Church, which, since its founding in 1847, has maintained a commitment to the educational and civic life of New Orleans.
Miss Aiken served as Headmistress the first year, and the succeeding Heads of School have been The Reverend Thomas N. F. Shaw (1961—1975), The Reverend Charles Rodney Smith (1975—196), Mr. George David Hardman, Jr. (1976—1981), Mr. Edward Pickett Cavin (1981—1994), Mr. Julian Patrick Bull (1994-2001), The Reverend Dr. Michael C. Kuhn (2001—2014), and The Reverend E. Gary Taylor (2014-present).

Diversity and Inclusion
As a ministry of Trinity Episcopal Church, Trinity School's ethos is to respect the dignity of every human being and to ensure that all are welcome in our community regardless of race, religion, background, gender, or sexual identity. We believe that a learning environment that includes a wide diversity of viewpoints, consistent with the School's mission, is essential to a comprehensive educational experience.
It is part of Trinity’s mission to actively build and support an inclusive environment in which all individuals feel they are valued members of our community.

Episcopal Identity
As an Episcopal School, we proudly uphold a tradition that welcomes and values students from a wide range of faith traditions, as well as those who do not identify with any religion or those who are still searching for their own spiritual path. We believe that our school community is strengthened by learning from a spiritually diverse student body.
At Trinity Episcopal School, we emphasize the importance of integrating one’s beliefs into day-to-day actions. Each school day begins with a morning Chapel service for First through Eighth Grade students

Our Values
What sets Trinity apart is our deep commitment to character. Every day, we nurture and celebrate the core values of our School prayer: Gentle, Generous, Truthful, Kind, and Brave
These values are woven into all we do, from our dynamic, research-driven curriculum to our daily gatherings in Chapel and our strong partnership with families.
As a small, inclusive school, every child at Trinity is known, valued, and supported. Students are encouraged to take risks, learn from mistakes, and develop their independence in a caring environment that feels both safe and inspiring. Here, leadership and integrity are developed early, empowering our students to excel not only academically but to use their strengths to make a positive difference in the world.
